lazy days and ebays

I've been so slack on this blog - partly due to the mass ebay/etsy flogging that has consumed my spare time and turned my room into a hell hole. The mere thought of resizing another photo makes me feel dizzy .. but i have been attempting abit of sewing.

Over the last couple of weeks or so...
  • The "hostess with the mostess" has finally made her food blog nomkitchen go public - documenting the delights of our Thursday night luxury binges and showcasing Ms. Lee's amazing cooking repertoire.
  • My friend Nick delivered a fabulous box of laduree macaroons (all the way from Paris) that i scoffed with the ladies. We got through a mini sugary mountain of bitter chocolate, orange blossom, salted caramel and raspberry. Caramel and raspberry were the best, orange blossom tasted abit like handcream - but nice handcream...
  • My workplace, matmi, won 3 awards including best digital agency and best business.
  •  My new friend Sam has gone back to New York after a season in Cheshire. I wish we'd been able to spend more time together, but now she's found an apartment over there hopefully I will visit. Keeping tabs on her blog and etsy shop to see how NYC's flea markets compare to Chelford car boot...
Sewing wise..my housemate, Connie, bought a lovely camel coloured silk jersey dress from Cos last week (yet to find a picture) and i spotted it hanging up in our house. It has a really simple round neck, 3/4 sleeves and an asymmetric drop waist that flips out at the hem. After a little coveting, i decided that such a simple shape should be easy to make... so i started to make a pattern from scratch using some newspaper (its scruffy but it works).
I'm still at stage one of pattern making - haven't even cut the sleeves out - but i hacked out a test toile in some pink jersey fabric. Hopefully it will work out and i will post the finished version soon..these pictures aren't the most inspiring, but you get the idea!

I wish we had spent more time together as well. At least we have many an interweb forum to keep up on each other's lives!
